Job description
Job Purpose
Carry out diverse mechanical tasks involving installation, repair, and upkeep of machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance with minimal downtime while adhering to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards and driving continuous enhancements.
Key Accountabilities
- Handle mechanical equipment failures and conduct planned, preventive, and predictive maintenance independently and efficiently to reduce production interruptions.
- Evaluate job requirements technically to select appropriate tools and equipment needed for tasks.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety protocols and plant operational guidelines.
- Utilize SAP computerized maintenance systems to order parts from inventory and document the maintenance work performed.
- Track recurring malfunctions and suggest or execute modifications to resolve issues.
- Detect and report anomalies; conduct repairs, replacements, testing, and assembly of worn or defective parts; report to supervisors and perform overhauls or part replacements while maintaining a clean workspace.
- Engage in welding and fabrication related tasks as required.
- Provide guidance to newly recruited mechanics to familiarize them with plant equipment and maintenance procedures.
- Contribute continuously to improving EHS standards and Plant & Equipment performance by participating in initiatives such as Suggestion Scheme, 5S, Hazard Reporting, and TAMAHAL/PEER.
- Support other departments in equipment repair and troubleshooting efforts.
- Input maintenance activities and manpower data into asset management systems.
- Carry out daily or shift duties collaboratively with a team of technicians, craftspeople, and contractors under supervisor assignment.
- Perform all scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, running inspections, and checklists daily as directed by maintenance planning.
- Execute additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor or technician.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma in a relevant technical field.
- Completion of PEC Craft Training.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in heavy industry after Diploma; PEC Craft Training holders may have no prior experience.
- Proficient in both written and spoken English.
- Familiarity with maintenance tools and good computer literacy.
- Experience with installation and troubleshooting mechanical equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and instructions accurately.
