Job description
Overview
Join our Production and Maintenance Team as a Machine Operator, responsible for running equipment, managing automation and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime, and carrying out daily production tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain required operational efficiencies continuously.
- Provide leadership and guidance to helpers to complete production runs timely and maintain quality standards.
- Collaborate with Food Safety and Sanitation departments to ensure automated machinery complies with regulatory requirements.
- Operate equipment to process food and beverage products through grinding, mixing, drying, freezing, cooking, and related methods.
- Conduct inspections before and after packaging operations in accordance with job protocols, including machine calibration.
- Set up machinery accurately and ensure safe operation at all times.
- Document production activities and generate reports properly.
- Diagnose and fix equipment issues promptly to reduce production delays.
- Monitor and adjust processes as needed to align with production flow.
- Manage department inventories, including consumables, maintaining precise records.
- Adhere strictly to Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Health and Safety policies.
- Follow organizational policies and quality standards to ensure excellent product delivery.
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and use personal protective equipment as required.
- Report potential safety hazards to supervisors.
- Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering or comparable experience.
- Familiarity with ProSeal (GTE/GTR) machines and Loma Metal Detectors is beneficial.
- Six months to one year of machinery operation experience in food processing or manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of Material Handling Equipment (e.g., walkie, forklift, stacker) is advantageous.
- Physically able to stand for extended periods with bending, twisting, and walking.
- Comfortable working in refrigerated settings (0°C to 4°C).
- Capable of pushing, pulling, and lifting weights up to 50 pounds.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and food safety.
- Effective communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
- Basic computer literacy.
