Job description

Overview

We seek an experienced Lead for Space Planning to oversee a team, provide expert insight, and manage projects supporting merchandising strategies, vision, and assortment choices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update best practices for space planning training, including MET, Capital Initiatives, Interconnected Reviews, and project management.
  • Develop new quality assurance checks in collaboration with the Senior Business Analyst.
  • Onboard and mentor new space planners through project milestones, explaining roles and processes thoroughly.
  • Coach planners to design planograms that enhance analytics and support category strategies.
  • Lead the team in personnel matters, including coaching, development, and performance reviews.
  • Ensure team deliverables are accurate, timely, and adhere to best practices with actionable recommendations.
  • Support special projects and ad-hoc assignments as needed.
  • Drive thought leadership to identify and implement process improvements within the team.
  • Collaborate closely with Space Planning managers to evolve training protocols and team workflows.
  • Oversee and enhance the assortment update process alongside the Seasonal Space Planning and Merchandising group.

  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities, with accountability and follow-up focus.
  • Proven capacity to influence teams across multiple functions.
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in space planning concepts and working knowledge of JDA software.
  • Financial analysis capabilities.
  • Adaptability to dynamic and fast-paced work environments.
  • Comfort in presenting to both small groups and large audiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Information

  • Reports to the Manager, Space Planning; Direct reports include space planners.
  • Minimal travel is involved.
  • Work locations include office, store, and distribution center environments.
  • This is a hybrid role, combining office and remote work as required.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in business or finance.
  • Between 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in merchandising or space planning.
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring a team.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills are essential.
  • A flexible approach toward business solutions is valued.
  • No formal certifications are mandatory for this role.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $62,200 to $70,100 annually.
