Java Full Stack Developer (Java & Angular)

About the Role

As a Java Full Stack Developer specializing in Java and Angular at EPAM Systems, you will play a vital part in upgrading the user experience for institutional clients by migrating and enhancing the Portware trading platform. You'll be focused on transitioning the front-end from Java Swing to Angular while also making strategic adjustments to the backend Java systems to support these changes. Collaborating closely with client and internal development teams, you will ensure the application meets high standards of functionality, performance, and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Allocate roughly 70% of your effort to Java backend tasks and 30% to front-end development using Angular.
• Refactor and enhance the Java backend to facilitate the migration and introduce new features for the front end.
• Participate in the transition of UI elements from Java Swing to Angular, ensuring seamless functionality and integration with backend services.
• Work in tandem with interdisciplinary teams to gather requirements and develop robust solutions.
• Engage with clients to collect feedback, clarify needs, and report on progress throughout the migration process.
• Produce clean, well-documented, and reliable code adhering to organizational coding practices.
• Perform comprehensive testing and debugging to verify that new and migrated components meet both functional and performance targets.
• Diagnose and eliminate performance bottlenecks to maximize application speed and responsiveness.
• Maintain thorough documentation covering migration strategies, technical details, and user documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• At least five years of relevant work experience in backend Java development combined with Angular.
• Strong proficiency in Java (backend) and Angular (preferably with TypeScript), and experience building or consuming RESTful APIs.
• Demonstrated capability in migrating legacy applications (such as those built with Java Swing) to modern JavaScript-based front-end frameworks.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and an analytical mindset for tackling technical issues.
• Clear and effective communication skills for working with both technical teams and stakeholders.
• Collaborative team player who contributes positively to a group work environment.

Desired Qualifications

• Relevant professional certifications in Java and/or Angular.
