About the Role
Join Babcock International Group as a Customer Service Driver at Donnington near Telford, Shropshire, playing a crucial part in maintaining military vehicle readiness and UK defence capability. This full-time permanent position involves more than just driving; you will be responsible for safely managing the transport of military vehicles and equipment across Ministry of Defence sites, workshops, and operational locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and drive military vehicles and assets between Ministry of Defence bases, workshops, and operational points.
- Handle vehicle collections, deliveries, handovers, and inspections adhering strictly to safety protocols.
- Assist in loading and unloading while ensuring compliance with transport regulations.
- Keep meticulous records of vehicle movements and regularly update operational systems.
- Identify and report faults, defects, or safety issues to promote fleet availability and operational efficiency.
Working Hours
This role is based onsite at Donnington with scheduled work totaling 72 hours per fortnight, following a 9-day fortnight pattern. Week one involves Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4:20pm, and week two includes Monday to Thursday from 7:30am to 3:20pm with every alternate Friday off.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience driving a variety of vehicles, preferably including Heavy Goods Vehicles Class C.
- Previous experience with Ministry of Defence A and B type vehicles or equivalent heavy vehicle fleets.
- Familiarity with vehicle handovers, collections, and asset movements in environments demanding strict safety standards.
- Knowledgeable in transport regulations, vehicle safety, and compliance.
- Skilled at maintaining accurate documentation and records.
Qualifications
- Possession of a full UK Driving Licence.
- Class C Heavy Goods Vehicle Licence.
- Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
