Position Overview

The role is dedicated to managing all cash transactions and related activities within a bank branch, adhering to both internal and external banking regulations. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, performing daily end-of-day reconciliations, and ensuring smooth cash handling functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure branch operations run efficiently by accurately processing cash transactions and account maintenance timely.
• Oversee the cash handling functions including receipt and processing of cheques, drafts, and other withdrawal instruments up to authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash deposits, managing repayment collections as per EMI schedules with system updates.
• Maintain registers such as inward/outward, petty cash, and assets; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office as necessary.
• Perform daily cash tallies against books and vouchers, reporting results in the branch’s end-of-day report.
• Jointly manage branch vault operations and cash handling with branch operations officers.
• Engage with customers during deposits and disbursements, understanding their needs, cross-selling bank products and services, and providing exemplary customer service.
• Handle customer inquiries efficiently, escalating grievances appropriately while guiding customers to alternate channels for transactions.
• Conduct cash counting at start and end of day before vaulting, maintain custody of branch cash and valuables safely alongside assistant managers.
• Adhere to defined transaction turnaround times and comply fully with applicable bank policies and regulations.
• Verify loan repayment transactions, authenticate customers for withdrawals, update bank passbooks, and process cash bundles for bank deposits.
• Keep abreast of bank products, regulations, and customer identification norms; complete mandatory training and certification programs timely.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Any graduate degree, preferably with subjects in Finance or Commerce.
• One to two years of experience handling large cash volumes.
• Proficient in entering data into financial software or ERP systems and consolidating accounting information.

• Expertise in cash handling, accounting, and counterfeit detection.
• Strong numerical aptitude with meticulous attention to customer service timeliness.
• Basic computer operational knowledge and ability to learn branch-specific financial software.
• Ability to multitask efficiently under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and focus on execution and customer satisfaction.

Key Interactions

• Collaboration with regional operations teams, financial control units, service quality personnel, neighboring banks, cash management agencies, and business correspondent agents.

Additional Information

This position reports to the Branch Operation Manager and is part of the Branch Banking Department located at the branch site. It requires handling responsibilities such as branch audit, cash transaction limits, and ATM/vault management.
