Role Overview

This position involves a hybrid role combining Software Engineering and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), crucial to supporting Visa’s cloud platform strategy. The role focuses on maintaining development platforms and tools, ensuring developers can concentrate on innovation. The engineer will promote best practices for observability and automate solutions to recurring challenges, supporting infrastructure reliability, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the main contact point for developers interacting with core DevTools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Jira, and Artifactory.
• Rapidly diagnose and resolve tool-related problems to reduce developer downtime.
• Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines and their integrations to ensure consistent reliability and scalability.
• Work alongside development teams to improve workflows and automation processes.
• Design and support systems for high availability, scalability, and optimal performance.
• Monitor and enhance application reliability proactively and manage incident responses.
• Develop, operate, and maintain observability frameworks including metrics, logging, and tracing.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead root cause analyses for incidents.
• Collaborate with engineering groups to identify reliability risks and implement best practices.
• Document operational processes, troubleshooting guides, and create reliability playbooks.
• Promote automation and self-service tools to reduce manual operational efforts.

Location and Work Arrangement

Position is based in Singapore and requires working onsite at least three days per week, with exact scheduling coordinated with the hiring manager.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree or at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
• At least 2 years working with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, GitHub, Bitbucket, ArgoCD, Artifactory, or Azure DevOps in large-scale environments.
• A minimum of 2 years experience within Platform, SRE, or Production Engineering roles supporting critical platforms or applications.
• Foundational programming or scripting skills in at least two languages among Python, Java, Go, PowerShell, JavaScript, Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Chef, or CloudFormation.
• Basic knowledge of configuration and markup languages including YAML, JSON, HTML, and XML.
• Hands-on experience with Linux or Windows operating systems and a sound understanding of distributed computing architectures.
• Two or more years using observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Datadog, New Relic, DynaTrace, or Sentry.
• Experience supporting relational and non-relational databases like MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL, including query execution, performance tuning, and scaling.
• Expertise managing container infrastructure (Docker/Kubernetes) and supporting transitions toward container-first development methodologies.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms and principles of networking.
• Strong problem-solving ability, systems-thinking mindset, self-driven approach, and strong enthusiasm for enhancing system reliability.
• Willingness to participate in 24/7 operational support cycles including on-call duties.
