Position Overview

As a Safeguarding Controller for the APAC region, you will collaborate with current safeguarding specialists and report to the Global Safeguarding Accountable Owner. You will support controllers and product managers to ensure the safeguarding control framework operates effectively, covering payments, e-money, and investment sectors. This role offers a chance to gain insight into regulatory handovers during a period of product expansion and growth.

Core Responsibilities

• Ensure new product launches comply with safeguarding regulations and that controls are applied proportionately.
• Maintain completeness of policies and procedures; coordinate with controllers to secure attestations confirming control effectiveness and alignment.
• Coordinate and execute first-line defense assurance processes for APAC safeguarding controls.
• Update and oversee the safeguarding risk and controls matrix for APAC entities.
• Act as the initial escalation point for discrepancies identified by the Reconciliations team, providing subject matter expert advice on resolution.
• Participate in incident management, linking incidents to control failures to help senior management identify overarching control environment issues.
• Prepare regulatory reports for MAS and other safeguarding authorities.
• Coordinate the annual safeguarding audit process.
• Document, challenge, and develop a comprehensive view of internal control environments, mapping key risks, controls, and processes using internal risk management software.

Candidate Profile

• Extensive 5-8 years experience with CASS/CMAP frameworks in APAC, ideally Singapore, covering investment and payments sectors.
• Strong knowledge of Singapore’s Payments Services Act (PSA) regulated by MAS.
• Excellent written communication skills to explain regulatory requirements and risks clearly to non-expert colleagues.
• Proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving; embraces taking ownership to resolve complex challenges.
• Commercially minded, balancing risk controls with driving business growth.
• Effective collaborator within multinational teams, able to influence positively without drama.
• Keen interest in expanding knowledge of FinTech operations and scaling environments.
• Willingness to engage in occasional video calls and travel for global treasury initiatives, as the safeguarding team is distributed internationally.
