About the Role

Join Tetra Pak as an Electrical Engineer within our Automation and Electrical Engineering Team located at our Hamilton office. At Tetra Pak, we are dedicated to making food safe and accessible globally while safeguarding what's important: food, people, and the environment. This role allows you to contribute end-to-end on projects, influence pricing and commercial decisions, and serve as a trusted technical advisor internally and for our customers. Your work directly impacts our customers in the food and dairy sector.

The role involves up to 20-30% travel to customer locations and requires New Zealand residency with full working rights. The position is onsite in Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently and collaboratively develop electrical solutions adhering to Tetra Pak or customer standards.
  • Contribute to project pricing, cost estimation, and scope definition, supporting bids with sound technical and commercial insights.
  • Lead electrical engineering tasks on medium to large projects from concept through commissioning and handover.
  • Thoroughly understand and challenge customer requirements, ensuring successful delivery.
  • Manage electrical project delivery including coordination with subcontractors.
  • Procure necessary equipment and engage subcontractors for engineered solutions.
  • Facilitate technical discussions and design reviews with customers and internal teams.
  • Offer technical expertise and mentoring to team members.
  • Drive continuous improvements in engineering standards and working practices.
  • Travel to assist with project pricing and delivery as needed.
  • Represent Tetra Pak with professionalism.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven track record in electrical design and execution throughout full project lifecycle.
  • Experience in project pricing, cost estimation, and managing technical risks during tender and execution.
  • Strong knowledge of AS/NZS Wiring Regulations and relevant electrical standards.
  • Experience commissioning electrical systems in industrial/production contexts.
  • Skilled in handling large or complex capital projects, including subcontractor and supplier oversight.
  • Technical leadership ability, including mentoring within engineering teams.
  • Effective communication skills, with confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Professional, approachable demeanor fostering trust with customers and colleagues.
  • Independent project management skills.
  • Preferred experience in food and beverage industry settings.
  • Understanding of PLC/HMI hardware selection and integration.
  • Familiarity with Hazardous Area Design and Functional Safety Design principles.
  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Must have New Zealand residency with full work rights; no visa sponsorship or relocation assistance provided.
