Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Document Controller (Technical Clerk) to join the MEH Alliance at the Hinkley Point C construction project in Bridgwater. This permanent role focuses on utilizing technical content to produce non-technical documents, developing templates, and collaborating with the Document Control team to implement and appropriately number documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed documentation that aligns with contractual standards and project requirements.
- Gain thorough knowledge of the MEHA scope to compile contract-related deliverables supporting the construction management system.
- Produce clear, user-friendly content tailored for the target audience and to facilitate project success.
- Maintain comprehensive databases of reference materials such as research, usability tests, and design specs.
- Establish and oversee periodic review registers to ensure document compliance with contract obligations.
- Continuously assess and improve document content through innovative solutions.
- Collaborate closely with various teams to research, draft, edit, and update content based on project needs.
- Independently obtain information from experts to develop procedure manuals, technical specs, and process documents.
- Work with leadership to select appropriate document repositories for efficient access and revisions.
- Create and maintain standardized information architecture templates for consistent and accessible documentation.
- Develop content in diverse media formats ensuring a cohesive message across all materials.
- Support in preparing Construction Work Packs within the Switch system.
- Lead and manage a team of technical clerk support staff to accomplish these tasks.
- Create Requests for Information (RFIs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and Field Change Requests (FCRs) in Switch.
Qualifications and Skills
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly in document template creation.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly grasp complex subjects.
- Experience writing procedural and documentation materials for diverse audiences.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with a meticulous eye for detail.
- Proven history of working collaboratively with engineering teams to enhance user experience, including design refinement and creation of visuals and diagrams for technical content.
Additional Information
This position does not include travel or subsistence allowances; therefore, candidates must reside locally to be eligible.
