Job description

About Mozilla

Mozilla Corporation, supported by the non-profit Mozilla Foundation, has influenced the internet positively for over 25 years by creating pioneering products like the privacy-centric Firefox browser. Serving more than 225 million users globally each month, Mozilla strives to shape the future of technology with a focus on AI, social media, security, and more, while maintaining its mission to make the internet better for people rather than companies. The organization operates through thousands of contributors worldwide developing open-source software that empowers users to experience the internet on their terms.

Role Overview

The Release Engineering team at Mozilla is vital in delivering Firefox and other products to users reliably and promptly. They manage the build and deployment pipelines that enable the delivery of tens of thousands of daily build/test/release tasks, often deploying critical security updates to over 200 million users across multiple platforms and locales within 24 hours. This position involves optimizing and maintaining these pipelines to enhance developer experience and delivery speed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop scalable software to handle tens of thousands of build, test, and release tasks daily.
  • Partner with senior engineers to devise improvements for developer tools and implement them.
  • Coordinate with a distributed team across North America and Europe.
  • Engage in collaborative code reviews both giving and receiving feedback.
  • Address urgent service outages during working hours without being on call.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least two years of experience programming in an object-oriented language, preferably Python.
  • Strong interest and experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Comfortable working in multiple operating system environments including Windows, macOS, and Linux; experience in shell scripting.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within teams spread across different time zones.
  • Enthusiasm for understanding and enhancing existing codebases and software tools.
  • Alignment with Mozilla’s core values including embracing diversity, fostering relationships, responsible engagement, and persistence.

Benefits and Perks

  • Performance-based bonuses available to all eligible employees, promoting shared success.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • Retirement contributions with immediate full vesting regardless of employee participation.
  • Quarterly company-wide wellness days and observance of country-specific holidays, plus a birthday day off.
  • One-time home office setup stipend.
  • Annual budget for professional development activities.
  • Quarterly stipend for well-being purposes.
  • Extensive paid parental leave.
  • Employee referral bonus program.
  • Additional benefits such as life, accidental death & dismemberment, disability insurance and employee assistance programs, varying by country.

Diversity and Inclusion Commitment

Mozilla is dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace that values diverse perspectives and creativity. Applications are welcome from all backgrounds including women, racialized and Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ+ communities, and more.
