Software Engineer (Java) - Payments and Finance Engineering

Role Summary

We seek a candidate with a solid foundation in computer science theory and relevant industry experience to contribute to the design, development, and deployment of integrated distributed systems. These systems provide core financial functionalities essential for Apple’s operations.

The position demands experience in authoring technical engineering proposals resolving complex issues, articulating ideas effectively to diverse stakeholders, iterating based on feedback, and ultimately delivering these proposals as tangible product features.

Key Responsibilities & Expertise

• Design, implement, and maintain highly scalable services and systems primarily using Java, Kotlin, or JVM languages.
• Exhibit a deep understanding of Financial Engineering, particularly how payment and commerce transactions are processed and reflected within accounting and financial contexts.
• Work with various data storage technologies including relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases.
• Engineer with attention to reliability, scalability, availability, and accuracy—critical factors in payment systems.

Preferred Experience and Skills

• A proactive approach with a strong orientation towards customer needs and product outcomes.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving capabilities, with an emphasis on continuous learning and fostering collaborative relationships.
• Hands-on experience with Postgres and DynamoDB databases.
• Familiarity with public cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
• Practical deployment experience using containerization tools like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Comprehensive knowledge of data structures, software architecture, and data modeling.
