Job description
Role Overview
The Shift Lead at Walgreens is responsible for managing store operations in the absence of store management. This includes opening and closing the store, handling cash procedures, ensuring readiness of the sales floor and stockroom, and assisting with vendor deliveries. The Shift Lead plays a key role in delivering exceptional customer service while coaching team members and supporting store maintenance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform store open and close duties including system startups, cash handling tasks, and preparing the floor and stockroom for business.
- Manage product returns, void orders, process customer refunds, perform cash drops, and provide change for cash registers.
- Maintain distinctive customer service by greeting customers, resolving issues, and modeling exemplary customer interaction standards.
- Hold store keys and open the back door for vendor deliveries when needed.
- Support team members with order processing including warehouse and vendor coordination, and oversee proper documentation of sales and transactions.
- Assist management in reviewing order exceptions, returns, and reverse logistics processes.
- Help evaluate and develop product displays, promotional setups, and complete seasonal resets.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure stock accuracy across departments, stockroom, and overstock areas.
- Implement the Outdate program and assist with pricing updates and signage in compliance with local regulations.
- Conduct bookkeeping tasks such as cash reports, counts, ledgers, and bill payments as necessary.
- Ensure store interiors and exteriors are clean, orderly, and well-maintained, reporting repair needs in management absence.
- Follow product storage policies including separation of raw and pre-cooked foods, stock rotation using first-in-first-out methods, and restocking.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of store systems and operation of store equipment.
- Assist pharmacy window as requested and ensure compliance with laws governing regulated products like alcohol and tobacco.
- Perform team member bag checks upon store exit and uphold company policies and respectful workplace relations.
- Complete special assignments and participate in required training programs.
- Serve as communication link between management and team members, reporting disciplinary or customer issues promptly.
Qualifications
- At least one year of experience in leadership, supervisory, or as a retail key holder.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Preferred knowledge of store inventory management techniques.
- Applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered.
- Must obtain and maintain PTCB certification or a state-required pharmacy license if applicable.
Additional Information
This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $17 to $20, with the final salary dependent on factors such as location, skills, education, and experience.
