Role Overview

As the Lead Engineer for the Portal Reports and Insights team, you will architect and develop robust, distributed, fault-tolerant systems that support high-performance reporting and data visualization applications. These systems enable clients to run nearly 10,000 reports weekly, generating key performance metrics and exporting raw UGC data. You will also develop analytical dashboards that help clients identify data trends and patterns, while leading engineering efforts and guiding team members.

Responsibilities and Expertise

• Design and implement scalable distributed systems supporting reporting and analytical applications.
• Build and maintain tools that generate extensive reports and insights used by Bazaarvoice clients.
• Lead engineering projects from design through delivery, ensuring best practices and technical excellence.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent education/work experience.
• At least seven years' experience building and maintaining scalable distributed systems using open-source technologies.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages (such as Java or C++) and scripting languages (such as Python or Ruby).
• Prior experience in technical leadership or mentorship roles.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Strong skills in crafting complex SQL queries; PostgreSQL experience is advantageous.
• Experience working with API frameworks, such as Spring Boot.
• Hands-on involvement with public cloud platforms, preferably AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Competence in modern build tools like Maven, Jenkins, and GitHub.
• Knowledge of AWS services including CloudFormation, EMR, S3, EC2, and Cloud Trail is a strong benefit.
• Exposure to data visualization libraries and tools like D3.js, Tableau, or Looker is desirable.
• Excellent analytical, technical communication (oral and written) abilities, and collaborative mindset.
