Job Overview
Join our team as a Dimensional Quality Control Inspector, focusing on the precise measurement and verification of castings and forgings against customer specifications throughout various stages of the casting process. Your role guarantees that product dimensions strictly comply with customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform dimensional checks of castings in alignment with drawings and specifications.
- Measure and determine acceptance criteria according to ISO 8062 standards or specific customer requirements.
- Conduct visual examinations of sample castings and forgings.
- Carry out audit inspections for bulk castings and forgings relevant to dimensional accuracy.
- Verify that casting markings and lettering conform to customer drawings and specifications.
- Maintain and calibrate measurement and testing instruments within the inspection area.
- Collaborate with various departments to address and correct any dimensional deviations found in castings.
- Track corrections applied to castings based on dimensional reports when non-conformances are discovered.
- Monitor the effectiveness of non-conformance reports (NCR) related to dimensions.
- Organize and keep updated dimension reports and documentation relevant to inspections.
- Assist QC Engineers in formulating and refining dimensional inspection standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Preferably hold an ITI or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Bring a minimum of five years of experience in dimensional inspection work.
- Possess experience specifically within the steel casting and forging industry.
- Experience involving CMM inspection and programming is considered an advantage.
- Hold NDE certifications: ASNT Level II in Visual Inspection mandatory; ASNT Level II in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)/Penetrant Testing (PT) preferred.
Technical Skills
- Skilled in using various inspection equipment and understanding applied quality standards.
- Competent in reading and interpreting engineering drawings along with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Familiar with standards such as ISO, ASME, and ASTM applicable to dimensional and visual inspections.
- Knowledgeable about moulding processes and core assembly essentials.
