Job description
Overview
Join Canada Post as a Postmaster and take on a key community leadership role. Reporting to the Superintendent/Local Area Manager, you will be the primary representative of Canada Post in your community area, ensuring high standards in service delivery and customer satisfaction within a dynamic, multi-task environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Engage with the local community to promote Canada Post products and services.
- Sell and market postal products to both the public and local businesses.
- Provide and maintain suitable premises centrally located within the community within 30 days if selected.
- Oversee post office operations to meet retail hours and delivery commitments.
- Manage postal revenue, assets, and ensure accurate recordkeeping and reporting.
- Assist in mail delivery route management and may sort mail for postal boxes.
- Supervise staff where applicable and ensure the post office is clean, well-presented, and meets Canada Post standards.
- Operate the post office efficiently and with due diligence.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or provincial equivalent; business administration experience considered an asset.
- Must own or lease a suitable, accessible, barrier-free premises available one month prior to hire.
- Prior experience in public retail or service environments, including sales and cash handling.
- Familiarity with postal regulations, procedures, and mail processing methods.
- Physical ability to lift mail containers up to 50 lbs, push/pull mailboxes, and stand for extended periods.
Premises and Terms
- Premises must be fully accessible for persons with disabilities and are subject to inspection and approval at least one month before hire.
- Responsibilities include payment of rent/lease, utilities, cleaning, maintenance, snow removal, municipal taxes, and carrying appropriate insurance.
- Appointments adhere to the Canada Post Act, and public service hours are determined by Canada Post and may change.
- Priority is given to transfer requests from Canada Post employees who are members of CPAA within the competition area.
- A leasing allowance of $2,283/year is provided to offset operating costs, with an additional potential annual supplemental allowance for premises expenses.
Working Hours and Location
- Part-time schedule totaling 21 hours a week.
- Specific hours: Monday 09:00-11:30 and 14:30-17:00; Tuesday to Friday 09:00-11:30 and 14:30-16:00.
- Position is located in Woodridge, Manitoba.
