Mechanical Engineer - Rotating Equipment Design

About the Role

This role focuses on the design development and services for rotating equipment, associated packages, and auxiliary systems integrated within existing industrial process plants. The incumbent must adhere strictly to company procedures and specifications, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize and lead project activities, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project execution.
• Conduct root cause analyses, complete detailed process data sheets incorporating mechanical details, and perform engineering calculations using relevant software per applicable codes and standards.
• Prepare detailed datasheets, specifications, and requests for quotations.
• Review and assess supplier proposals, generating bid comparisons and tabulations.
• Select and size equipment while estimating costs to fulfill process design and mechanical performance criteria.
• Develop and update engineering specifications and standards, integrating lessons learned to enhance practices.
• Possess hands-on experience with overhauls of steam turbines, compressors, gas turbines, pumps, and similar equipment.
• Provide assistance during P&ID, 3-D piping model, and HAZOP reviews.
• Conduct design assessments, oversee fabrication inspections, and witness performance testing.
• Stay updated on technological advances relevant to the role to recommend improvements for efficiency and cost-saving.
• Offer technical support across multiple projects and operational demands, ensuring quality and schedule adherence.
• Facilitate training for new or trainee engineers to equip them with necessary skills and promote knowledge sharing within the engineering team.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering codes and standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, IEC, BS, EN, and their practical application.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in rotating/package mechanical engineering, ideally within petrochemical or ammonia/urea manufacturing plant projects.
• Proficiency in preparing datasheets, reviewing engineering documents, procurement processes, and installation of rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, steam turbines, gas turbines, and packaged equipment.
• Experience serving as an active project engineer in mechanical package design and supply is advantageous.

Additional Information

The candidate must comply with all company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies. The position is based at Mesaieed, Al Wakrah, Qatar, under an indefinite contract.
