About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a technically skilled Engineering Manager to lead a distributed team responsible for the operation and ongoing enhancement of modern cloud infrastructure. The role focuses on overseeing managed services supporting customer environments utilizing technologies like Kubernetes and OpenStack. This position blends leadership, technical direction, service delivery, and customer engagement within a highly remote, international setting collaborating across engineering, product, operations, and customer teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead and nurture a growing engineering team, enhancing both the speed of development and operational excellence.
- Oversee day-to-day managed services delivery to ensure dependable and consistent customer service.
- Implement and enforce engineering and operational processes that promote scalability, maintainability, and continuous process improvements.
- Track and act on team health metrics to boost effectiveness, collaboration, and overall performance.
- Maintain clear priorities, milestones, deliverables, and uphold commitments to customers.
- Serve as the liaison between the managed services team and customers, internal stakeholders, product engineering groups, and external partners.
- Ensure that service-level agreements (SLAs) across global customer deployments are consistently met.
- Drive enhancements in products, processes, and operational methodologies informed by customer and engineering insights.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and operations teams to troubleshoot complex issues and deliver resilient, distributed systems.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in a technology-related field, or analogous professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in software engineering using languages such as Python, Go, C, C++, or Java, and/or background managing technical operations teams.
- Professional familiarity with OpenStack is essential.
- Strong grasp of testing techniques, maintainability, and software quality assurance practices.
- Experience administering Linux systems; familiarity with Ubuntu or Debian is an advantage.
- Deep understanding of cloud architectures, networking topologies, and associated technologies.
- Technical proficiency in managing complex distributed systems.
- Experience applying agile software development methodologies.
- Proven ability to work with and lead distributed or remote teams.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- A pragmatic, customer-centered approach to service delivery and operational excellence.
- Availability for travel up to approximately 20% for team and customer engagements.
