Role Overview

As the Director of Software Engineering for Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), you will significantly influence Honeywell’s capacity to maintain exceptional system reliability and operational excellence. This position supports ongoing business continuity and customer satisfaction by driving best-in-class site reliability engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the SRE department.
  • Manage the planning, implementation, and delivery of SRE projects and programs.
  • Collaborate closely with various cross-functional teams and stakeholders to improve system reliability and operational performance.
  • Ensure strict compliance with SRE best practices including incident management and operational excellence.
  • Supervise allocation and optimization of resources, budgeting, and scheduling for SRE functions.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancement to boost efficiency and team productivity.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team focused on site reliability engineering.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in site reliability engineering, with a strong track record managing teams and projects effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and hybrid cloud architectures, focusing on scalability, fault tolerance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Practical experience with data platforms and machine learning operations (MLOps), guiding deployment strategies for models.
  • Comprehensive expertise in reliability principles, automation, incident handling, and monitoring to guarantee system uptime and performance.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms, container orchestration tools like Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code technologies.
  • Experience in programming and scripting tailored to automation and custom tooling development.
  • Familiarity with platform engineering and developer enablement practices, including building internal development platforms featuring templates, guardrails, and self-service continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) capabilities.

Preferred Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Over eight years of relevant experience in site reliability engineering or allied fields, inclusive of leadership roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a commitment to continuous system improvement.
  • Experience working within DevOps frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native environments.
  • Skill in cultivating a workplace culture that emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and excellence in operations.
