Software Engineer

About the Role

Flipkart is hiring SDE-2 engineers who can translate product needs into well-built features. In this role, you will work across multiple technical components within your domain, apply solid design practices, and write code that is easy to maintain and extend. Over time, you are expected to deepen your understanding of non-functional aspects such as reliability, availability, and horizontal scalability, and use that knowledge to make sound technology choices.

What You Will Do

• Convert product requirements into component designs, break work into tasks, and provide realistic estimates.
• Independently explore multiple solution approaches and build extensible low-level designs.
• Develop modular, readable, performant code with a focus on future maintainability.
• Select appropriate data structures, tools, and technology stacks, and support high-level design decisions with guidance.
• Build solutions while also mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
• Work closely with cross-functional partners and contribute to a shared product and engineering vision.

What You Need

• A B.Tech, M.Tech, or equivalent qualification, along with at least 3 years of experience.
• The ability to define abstractions and contracts while maintaining clear separation of concerns in larger systems.
• Strong hands-on programming experience in at least one language such as Java, Ruby, Clojure, Scala, C, C++, or SQL.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
• Practical experience with multithreading and concurrent programming.
• Comfort handling complex business logic and large volumes of data.
• Exposure to agile development practices or CI/CD workflows.
• Bonus value if you have built reliable and scalable web applications.
