Role overview
This position focuses on keeping HR and payroll operations running smoothly for colleagues in the UK and ROI. The aim is to meet service targets, stay compliant with relevant rules and policies, and support a positive colleague experience.
Key responsibilities
- Apply Tesco’s code of conduct with integrity, sound judgement, and proper attention to risk-related responsibilities.
- Look for ways to improve day-to-day processes by using continuous improvement methods and tools.
- Complete assigned work and transactions within agreed KPI timelines.
- Use established concepts, processes, and working methods relevant to the role.
- Handle HR administration and payroll administration tasks end to end.
- Set up and maintain colleague records from hire through to exit, including personal, role, and job information.
- Process payroll from start to finish, including gathering, checking, calculating, and entering payroll data for all employees.
- Support and coordinate transactions such as new starters, rota updates, retrospective corrections, leavers, and transfers.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, external teams, and colleagues in the UK.
- Respond to HR and payroll questions quickly and accurately to support a strong colleague experience.
- Work to an accuracy level above 99.50% across transactions.
- Coordinate with People & Safety Managers on pay-related queries and issues.
- Understand and apply UK legislation, Tesco policies, DC-specific terms and conditions, and payroll procedures to ensure compliance.
Required skills and experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior exposure to HR administration and/or payroll administration.
- Confident use of MS Office tools, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in an admin or transaction-heavy environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining accuracy.
- Good planning and organisation skills.
- Solid numeracy skills.
- Analytical thinking.
- Exposure to UK payroll processes is preferred.
