Visual Design Professional

Overview

Handshake is looking for highly capable visual design professionals with a strong sense of aesthetics and visual communication.

In this AI fellowship role, you will contribute to improving how large language models support visual storytelling, brand identity, and professional communication. The fellowship is available throughout the year, with project opportunities depending on your design focus.

Work Format

• This is a remote, asynchronous role, allowing you to work independently from any location.
• Hours are flexible, and there is no minimum weekly time commitment.
• Project assignment depends on whether suitable work is available.

What You’ll Do

• Support project work that may include creating domain-specific prompts and inputs.
• Review and assess responses generated by LLMs.
• Spend time researching subjects that interest you, using AI assistance where helpful.
• Contribute to AI-driven work across multiple disciplines while building new skills.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree is required.
• You should have at least 2 years of professional experience in design.
• Full-time experience as a brand designer, product designer, digital designer, visual designer, or creative/art director is expected.
• A portfolio demonstrating your design work is required.
• You must be comfortable working independently and asynchronously in a distributed team setting, including collaboration with AI research partners.
• Applicants should believe their creative judgment can outperform current AI systems when it comes to expressing and explaining business ideas visually.
