Job overview
This role calls for an experienced statistical programming professional who can deliver technical support across the full lifecycle of project programming work. The position focuses on building, maintaining, and supporting programs that satisfy both internal team needs and external client requirements. You will also help shape project-level programming solutions and act as a technical point of reference within the Statistical Programming function.
Key responsibilities
- Create, test, maintain, and document programs that generate statistical tables, figures, and listings.
- Build analysis datasets and handle data transfers for both internal teams and external clients.
- Carry out database validation and quality control tasks whenever needed.
- Integrate databases coming from multiple studies or different data sources.
- Prepare and maintain programming documentation such as plans and specifications.
- Offer advanced technical input to stakeholders and deliver solutions independently to project teams and the wider department.
- Design, develop, introduce, and validate new workflows, technologies, macros, and applications.
- Take ownership of statistical team lead duties for single studies, while working under supervision.
- Review the project scope of work, estimate effort, and track work that falls outside scope for individual studies.
- Assist with budgets, staffing needs, and revenue or resource forecasts for single-study work when required.
- Apply budgeting and quotation assumptions where needed.
- Support junior colleagues and new joiners through training, mentoring, and day-to-day guidance.
Qualifications
- A master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline plus at least 1 year of relevant experience; or
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline plus at least 2 years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent mix of education, training, and professional experience.
- Working knowledge of statistics, programming, and/or the clinical drug development process.
- Hands-on familiarity with Base SAS, SAS/STAT, and SAS Macro Language.
- Strong organization, communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
- Capability to juggle several tasks and projects at the same time.
- High level of accuracy and careful attention to detail.
- Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
