Janitor

Role overview

This role sits within a commercial cleaning and maintenance environment focused on dependable service for facilities. The janitor will handle general cleaning and preservation tasks across one building or several client locations. Because assignments can vary by site, the person in this role must be adaptable and ready to work according to each client’s needs and instructions.

Work schedule and pay

This is a full-time position with openings across all shifts. The pay rate is $17.00 per hour, and payment is issued weekly.

Key duties

• Keep floor areas clean through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming as needed.
• Use chemical cleaners and powered equipment correctly to avoid harming floors or surrounding surfaces.
• Maintain restrooms, meeting areas, hallways, and entry spaces in clean and presentable condition.
• Remove and dispose of trash properly, including operating a compactor for specific waste materials when required.
• Wash windows, glass panels, and mirrors using suitable tools and cleaning products.
• Perform spot cleaning on carpets and support carpet extraction and shampooing work.
• Refill paper goods and sanitary supplies regularly.
• Work according to the housekeeping schedule provided.
• Operate heavier cleaning equipment from time to time, such as floor scrubbers, backpack vacuums, and buffers.
• Take on other tasks that fall within the job scope or respond to customer requirements as needed.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, or at least six months of experience in a janitorial role. Training will be provided on the job. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented and able to follow directions accurately.

Preferred background

Helpful experience includes previous cleaning or custodial work, familiarity with commercial cleaning standards, knowledge of floor care methods such as buffing and waxing, and exposure to industrial cleaning or facilities maintenance.
