Groundworker

Role overview

We are looking for an experienced Groundworker to join a foundation GPS gang on a busy housing development in Heritage Fields, Sittingbourne. The position is best suited to someone with solid hands-on knowledge of foundations, internal and external drainage, and an understanding of NHBC requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support foundation activities such as footings, slabs, and substructure preparation.
• Install internal and external drainage systems, including pipework, connections, and tie-ins.
• Work within a GPS-guided gang to help achieve accurate set-out and levels.
• Assist with ground preparation, levelling, and site formation tasks.
• Lay and align drainage pipes to the correct falls and levels.
• Use drawings and site plans to carry out work accurately in line with GPS guidance.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with NHBC standards and project specifications.
• Operate dumpers when required to support groundwork and drainage operations.
• Work safely around plant, machinery, and other trades.
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and well-organised work area.

Requirements

• Valid CSCS card.
• CPCS or NPORS dumper ticket is essential.
• Proven background in foundations and groundwork projects.
• Good working knowledge of GPS machine control systems is desirable.
• Strong understanding of NHBC standards.
• Previous experience on housing developments or large construction sites.
• Good awareness of health and safety practices.
• Reliable, hardworking, and proactive approach.

Desirable experience

• Experience working as part of a GPS-controlled gang.
• Additional plant tickets such as excavator or roller.
• Previous involvement in footing and slab works.
