Role Overview
City University Ajman is looking for a Facilities Engineer to manage electrical infrastructure and support campus facilities operations across the University in Ajman Emirate, United Arab Emirates. The position focuses on maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient building systems while helping coordinate maintenance activities, compliance work, and improvement projects.
Electrical Systems Management
- Track, examine, and assess the performance of the University’s electrical systems, installations, and equipment to keep operations dependable, safe, and efficient.
- Spot electrical defects, performance gaps, or system inefficiencies and arrange corrective action without delay.
- Carry out routine checks on electrical distribution networks, switchgear, transformers, generators, lighting, UPS equipment, and other related infrastructure.
- Create and apply preventive maintenance plans for electrical assets and systems.
- Make sure all electrical work aligns with relevant codes, regulations, safety requirements, and internal policies.
- Review energy usage patterns and suggest conservation measures and sustainable solutions that improve operational efficiency.
- Keep up with new developments and best practices in electrical engineering, smart building technology, and energy management.
- Contribute to the planning, design review, and implementation of electrical improvements, renovations, and campus expansion work.
Facilities Management
- Direct and coordinate facilities maintenance activities across the University campus.
- Set maintenance priorities, work schedules, and deadlines for technical staff.
- Check that assigned work is completed on time and meets quality, safety, and operational expectations.
- Coach and support technical team members on equipment use, maintenance methods, workplace safety, and good operating practices.
- Oversee maintenance work carried out by outside contractors and service providers.
- Help prepare and track maintenance budgets, stock levels, and operating expenses.
- Respond quickly and professionally to facility-related questions and requests from faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
- Keep clear and accurate documentation for maintenance work, projects, inspections, and equipment records.
- Draft technical specifications and recommendations for purchasing electrical and facilities-related equipment.
- Determine when outside consultants or contractors are needed for maintenance, renovation, or construction projects.
- Support academic and administrative departments by keeping facilities ready for teaching, research, laboratory, and day-to-day campus operations.
Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare regular reports covering electrical system status, maintenance activities, project updates, energy consumption, and budget use.
- Maintain records for inspections, testing, certifications, and regulatory compliance obligations.
- Take part in safety audits, accreditation activities, and quality assurance initiatives as required by the University.
