DCS Board Operator

Role overview

The DCS Board Operator will support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup work for oil and gas facilities in Doha, Qatar. This position focuses on operating and monitoring the control system, coordinating with site teams, and ensuring commissioning activities are completed safely and accurately.

Core responsibilities

You will oversee DCS operations during key project phases and work closely with technicians, vendors, and discipline teams to help complete testing and startup tasks.

• Run and observe the DCS throughout pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup, including loop checks, functional testing, SAT, and system verification.
• Liaise with field technicians, ICSS vendors, and Mechanical, Electrical, and Piping teams to carry out loop testing, resolve control-system issues, and assist with site commissioning work.
• Review, correct, and maintain engineering and commissioning records such as Instrument Loop Diagrams, Alarm Objective Analysis documents, datasheets, control logic, and commissioning files.
• Check, test, and confirm alarms, control loops, and any software or hardware changes, then report abnormalities and troubleshooting needs to supervisors.
• Follow company SHES standards, respect permit-to-work requirements, and keep progress updates, loop folders, and commissioning records accurate and up to date.

Requirements

The role calls for a technical background in instrumentation or control systems, along with substantial oil and gas commissioning experience.

• Degree or diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or Control Engineering.
• At least 6 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, ideally as a DCS/Board Operator or Commissioning Operator.
• Practical knowledge of Distributed Control Systems, PLCs, HMI operation, and ICSS environments.
• Hands-on exposure to commissioning tasks such as loop checks, functional testing, alarm testing, and plant startup support.
• Clear understanding of safety practices and permit-to-work procedures.
