Software Engineer, Acceleration Platform

Overview

Google is hiring a Software Engineer for its Acceleration Platform team in Singapore. The role is centered on building AI-native, agentic systems that reduce developer effort at a global scale. This position sits within the Core organization, which develops the technical foundations that support Google’s major products and internal platforms.

The team works on resilient, scalable systems and central engineering capabilities that help remove technical bottlenecks, improve developer productivity, and strengthen infrastructure across the company. The successful candidate will contribute to design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and long-term improvement of software solutions.

Applicants who already have the legal right to work in Singapore and do not need visa sponsorship will be prioritized.

Minimum qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree or comparable hands-on professional experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience using Python or C++.
• At least 1 year of experience working in a core machine learning area such as generative AI, NLP, computer vision, speech/audio, reinforcement learning, recommendation systems, or ML infrastructure.
• At least 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure work, including model training, inference, deployment, evaluation, optimization, data processing, or debugging.

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience applying data structures and algorithms.
• Strong ability to understand large and complex codebases quickly.
• Comfort with ambiguity and a desire to improve debugging and system architecture skills continuously.
• Strong programming fundamentals and the ability to use large language models effectively and responsibly to improve productivity.
• Interest in agentic workflows, LLMs, developer productivity tools, and AI safety.

Role details

In this position, you will take ownership of technical initiatives from concept through execution, including zero-to-one work that builds scalable frameworks for self-sustaining AI systems. You will help establish high standards for AI engineering, support junior team members, and contribute to secure and high-performance distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop self-sustaining systems where AI agents can reason, plan, and carry out complex workflows to address real engineering challenges.
• Combine conventional software engineering with prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, and optimization techniques to create advanced AI-powered applications.
• Go beyond basic testing by creating evaluation workflows that assess AI behavior, reduce risk, and support secure-by-default agent operations.
• Diagnose unpredictable AI behavior by analyzing model reasoning, improving prompts, and tuning context so the systems stay aligned with their goals.
• Increase productivity by using AI coding tools and working with distributed teams to find new ways for LLMs to reduce developer toil.
