Senior ICS Security Engineer

Role Summary

This contract opportunity is for a Senior ICS Security Engineer based in Qatar, working onshore. The assignment is expected to run for an initial period of two years, with a chance of renewal.

Work Location

Onshore assignment at Ras Laffan / Doha HQ.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out Industrial Control Systems (ICS) security engineering activities and support ongoing security sustainment work.
• Assist with project delivery, security audits, risk reviews, technology evaluations, and self-assessments related to ICS security.
• Advise ICS Custodians and ICSE Technicians to help maintain required security performance levels.
• Support periodic reviews of ICS security equipment strategies, policy requirements, and design standards.
• Apply ICS security engineering specifications, procedures, work practices, manuals, and equipment strategies for new projects.
• Spot weaknesses in current systems and recommend practical improvements, upgrades, and better security methods.
• Review system, network, functional, detailed design documents, and interface agreements to verify alignment with ICS security standards.
• Contribute to risk assessments, technology assessments, deviation reviews, and disaster recovery plan simulations.
• Validate systems during FAT and SAT activities for the department.
• Coordinate deliverables under the Operational Readiness Procedure to support a smooth transition into ICS Security Operations.
• Take part in security incident investigations and root cause analysis, while supporting continuous improvement efforts.
• Act as a key contact for ICS Custodians and ICSE Technicians to keep work aligned with the ICS Security Policy and specifications.
• Provide technical guidance on implementing policy requirements across engineering, development, expansion, and operations teams.
• Help plan and run periodic self-assessments to check compliance with the ICS Security Policy.
• Support life-cycle reviews of in-scope ICS inventory and keep inventory records updated.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Instrumentation & Control, Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering, or a degree in Computer Science.
• At least 6 years of experience in Oil and Gas operations, technical work, or engineering with exposure to ICS security.
• Hands-on experience implementing security controls in OT environments.
• Good understanding of different Industrial Control Systems environments.
• Practical knowledge of ICS system security, networking, security tools, and monitoring solutions such as IDS/IPS and SIEM.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Computer literate.
• Excellent interpersonal ability with strong handling of personnel, administrative, organizational, and logistical matters.
• Ability to resolve issues related to ICS security design and sustainment.
• Ownership mindset with the ability to lead issue resolution and support continuous improvement.
