Role Summary
The Hatchery Lead supports day-to-day production activity in the plant and is expected to step into multiple tasks across the production area as needed. This position also helps onboard and train new team members, handles freezer and cooler inventory counts, and may be required to secure hand jack and forklift certification. Flexibility to work on any production line in the facility is essential, along with taking on other duties assigned by management.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a wide range of duties within the production area.
- Help train and support newly hired employees.
- Complete inventory checks for freezer and cooler storage.
- Obtain and use hand jack and forklift authorization when required.
- Move between production lines and assist wherever the plant needs coverage.
- Handle additional tasks assigned by supervisors or management.
Requirements
Applicants should have proven ability in leadership, communication, flexibility, and solving everyday production-line issues. A strong history of following Good Manufacturing Practices, using personal protective equipment correctly, and working safely in line with company policies is required. The role also calls for basic reading and writing ability, simple arithmetic, and the ability to speak, read, and write in English.
Physical Requirements
- Remain standing and/or walking for the entire shift.
- Work in areas with noise above 85 decibels, carbon dioxide exposure, and moving production equipment.
- Be able to tolerate hot conditions up to 99°F (37°C) and cold conditions down to 45°F (4°C).
- Work in damp, wet, and cold environments.
- Regularly lift items weighing more than 25 lbs.
- Work near live animals and/or raw animal odors.
