Hardware Asset Management

Role Overview

This position is focused on end-to-end management of hardware assets across the lifecycle, with work locations in Hyderabad, Pune, and Coimbatore. The role sits within a large digital transformation environment and calls for someone who can keep asset records accurate, support governance, and help improve asset visibility across the enterprise.

What You Will Do

• Oversee the complete lifecycle of hardware assets, from procurement and deployment through IMAC activities to retirement.
• Make sure each hardware item is uniquely tagged, tracked, and recorded in the system of record.
• Keep a close watch on asset condition, ownership, and physical location.
• Plan and carry out periodic physical stock checks according to the audit schedule.
• Reconcile physical inventory findings with CMDB records and fix mismatches.
• Monitor stock availability and maintain healthy asset levels.
• Update CMDB records accurately for installations, moves, additions, changes, hardware replacements, upgrades, decommissioning, and disposal.
• Preserve the linkage between hardware, software, and related services.
• Create records for newly received assets using unique identifiers.
• Check asset details such as serial number, configuration, and ownership for accuracy.
• Follow asset naming rules and established standards.
• Handle retirement and disposal of assets through the approved process.
• Ensure secure data wiping and compliance with environmental and e-waste requirements during disposal.
• Coordinate with external vendors for asset disposal activities.
• Track hardware purchases and confirm correct receipt of ordered items.
• Investigate and resolve gaps between ordered assets and items delivered.
• Partner with procurement teams for asset forecasting and planning.
• Support internal and external audit activities.
• Spot inconsistencies in asset records and correct them promptly.
• Maintain a clear audit trail for all asset movements.
• Use IT asset management tools such as ServiceNow HAM, SCCM, Intune, and discovery platforms.
• Support automated discovery of assets and timely CMDB updates.
• Connect asset data with enterprise systems for near real-time refreshes.
• Apply AI-enabled discovery approaches for hardware tracking where applicable.
• Use AI models to support inventory reconciliation, lifecycle prediction, and failure-risk analysis.
• Detect configuration drift and report deviations from expected standards.
• Prepare reports on inventory position, lifecycle stage, utilization, and aging assets.
• Assist with capacity planning and hardware refresh cycles.

Experience and Required Background

Applicants should bring at least 5 years of experience in Hardware Asset Management or IT Asset Management, with overall experience in the 5 to 8 year range.

Skills and Knowledge Needed

• Strong understanding of IT hardware lifecycle management.
• Working knowledge of CMDB administration and data governance.
• Practical experience with ServiceNow HAM, SCCM, and Intune.
• Hands-on involvement in inventory audits and reconciliation exercises.
• Exposure to both data center and end-user hardware environments.

Preferred Exposure

• Familiarity with the SIAM operating model.
• Understanding of the ITIL SACM framework.
• Experience with AI or automation tools used for asset discovery.
• Background in vendor and contract coordination.
• ITIL v4 certification or CHAMP certification is preferred.
