Data Analytics Analyst

Role overview

We are seeking a Data Analytics Analyst to lead full-cycle analytics initiatives for anti-financial crime programs at a well-established bank in Singapore. The position combines advanced analytics, data science, documentation, and senior stakeholder engagement. You will work across Hadoop-based big data environments, develop analytical workflows, build machine learning solutions, including unsupervised approaches, and turn findings into practical business outcomes.

Required qualifications and experience

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 7 years of experience in Data Science or Data Analytics, with a minimum of 4 years in Banking or Financial Services.
• Advanced working knowledge of Hive, Impala, Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn), R, SQL, and PySpark.
• Hands-on exposure to Qlik Sense and big data ecosystems such as Hadoop, Spark, and Hive/Impala.
• Practical experience creating ETL pipelines and complete analytical workflows.
• Strong command of machine learning, including unsupervised methods such as K-Means, DBSCAN, GMM, Isolation Forest, One-Class SVM, and LOF.
• Excellent communication, consulting, presentation-building, and stakeholder storytelling skills.

Preferred background

• Certifications in Data Science, Cloud Technologies, or AML/Compliance are an advantage.
• Experience with customer segmentation, anomaly detection, or financial crime analytics is desirable.
• Familiarity with model risk management and regulatory expectations for model governance is helpful.

Key responsibilities

• Own end-to-end analytics delivery on Hadoop and Spark/Hive platforms, covering ingestion, exploratory analysis, feature engineering, model creation, validation, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
• Develop analytical and machine learning models for AML, fraud detection, anomaly identification, customer segmentation, and risk scoring using both supervised and unsupervised techniques.
• Design and maintain automated workflows, analytical processes, and data pipelines.
• Produce detailed documentation such as Functional Specification Documents, Model Design Documents, Business Impact Analysis reports, and testing materials.
• Create dashboards and reports in Qlik Sense and present insights in a clear, business-friendly format.
• Run stakeholder discussions, support workshops, and deliver executive-level presentations with a strong narrative flow.
• Convert business needs into effective analytical solutions and data-backed recommendations.
• Maintain adherence to model governance, data quality, and security requirements.
• Guide and coach junior analysts and data scientists, promoting strong analytics and modeling practices.
