Role Overview
The bartender will deliver attentive, polished service while preparing beverages and supporting smooth bar operations. This role requires strong product knowledge, guest interaction skills, and the ability to maintain control over cleanliness, costs, and compliance while representing the property professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide warm, professional, and engaging service at all times.
- Work to consistently exceed guest expectations.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of food, beer, wine, liquor, and cocktails.
- Prepare standard drinks for guests, including simple cocktails.
- Create a welcoming experience through thoughtful guest interaction.
- Serve all guests courteously and with professionalism.
- Follow all liquor regulations and legal requirements.
- Take responsibility for personal conduct and financial accountability.
- Monitor and manage bar operating costs.
- Keep the bar and prep areas clean, tidy, and well organized.
- Minimize waste and support cost control efforts.
- Complete closing paperwork accurately and thoroughly.
- Maintain solid knowledge of menu items and food preparation methods.
- Support colleagues whenever needed and remain proactive on shift.
- Assist supervisors and managers as required.
- Develop a strong working understanding of the property’s services and offerings.
- Stay informed about the hotel’s food outlets and guest amenities.
- Know key city information and be familiar with the hotel’s history.
- Act as a positive representative of the team, property, and brand.
- Maintain dependable and consistent attendance.
- Carry out any additional duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Prior customer service experience is required, ideally from an upscale or premium environment.
- Previous experience working as a bartender is required.
- Experience using a point-of-sale system is preferred.
- Strong verbal communication and organizational abilities.
- Good interpersonal skills and a practical approach to solving problems.
- Must be dependable, accountable, and able to work with limited supervision.
- Comfortable performing effectively in a busy, high-pressure setting.
- Able to work as part of a small team and also independently when needed.
- Must remain calm, courteous, and focused on guest needs throughout the shift.
- Completion of the server training program is required.
- Prior service experience in a luxury hospitality environment is required.
Additional Information
This role involves regular physical activity, including standing and walking for extended periods during a shift. The position may also require occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 30 lbs, along with occasional kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
