Senior Backend Engineer

Presight is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help shape the core of advanced software products by developing reliable business logic, backend services, and APIs. This position is central to building and maintaining the infrastructure behind cutting-edge analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and present multiple design perspectives so technical and business stakeholders can align on both functional and non-functional needs.
• Build models or simulations for proposed software to support stakeholder approval and smooth implementation.
• Develop, test, verify, document, adjust, and refactor complex programs, scripts, and integration services.
• Handle scoping, requirement definition, and prioritization for smaller changes while supporting larger change efforts where needed.
• Apply established standards and techniques to gather and record detailed requirements.
• Contribute to choosing the right software development approach, whether plan-driven or iterative/agile.
• Create test cases and scripts based on predefined criteria and document results clearly.
• Maintain strong knowledge of database and data warehouse concepts, including design principles, architecture, software, and associated tools.
• Design efficient solutions that improve user experience while maximizing speed, scalability, and technical feasibility.
• Take part in architecture discussions to understand the end-to-end product structure and capabilities.
• Write reusable code and libraries that can support future development work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 8 years of experience in backend software development, backed by strong computer science fundamentals.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
• Working knowledge of Maven.
• Experience with cloud computing and cloud-based development and deployment environments.
• Strong exposure to UNIX/Linux systems and shell scripting.
• Good understanding of data structures, entity relationships, structured and unstructured data, SQL and NoSQL databases; familiarity with Elasticsearch is an advantage.
• Experience building RESTful APIs.
• Practical knowledge of multithreaded and concurrent programming.
• Comfortable using Git.
• Nice to have: experience with Nginx server administration.
• Nice to have: exposure to AWS or Azure services.
• Strong drive for continuous improvement.
• Creative and innovative approach to solving technical problems.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly in ambiguous environments and work well with stakeholders.
