About the safeguarding team
Our safeguarding group is focused on building a secure, caring setting where everyone connected with the club feels protected, respected, and supported.
Within the Academy, we follow strong safeguarding procedures designed to keep young athletes safe. This includes carrying out regular risk checks and delivering targeted training for coaches and staff so they can spot and respond to possible safeguarding issues.
By working alongside other departments, the team makes sure safeguarding practices are built into day-to-day activity across the club. The goal is to help young talent flourish both on the pitch and away from it in a positive environment.
The opportunity
As Matchday Crèche Supervisor, you will be responsible for running a safe, friendly, and engaging crèche service for players’ children under the age of 2 on matchdays. You will guide the daily operation of the crèche, plan enjoyable and inclusive activities, support the team, and ensure high standards of safeguarding, wellbeing, and health and safety are consistently met.
You will also handle sign-in and collection processes, develop good working relationships with families and club colleagues, and contribute to an atmosphere where children can feel comfortable and content while parents concentrate on the game.
This role offers the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the matchday experience by helping ensure every child has a fun, secure, and memorable visit.
What we are looking for
The right candidate will bring solid experience working with children in childcare, education, or recreational environments, along with strong communication and people skills to engage effectively with players and their families. A real enthusiasm for creating positive experiences for children, particularly within a sports setting, is important.
Essential qualifications or certifications include First Aid, Paediatric First Aid, Early Years Practitioner Level 2, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and Childcare and Safeguarding. The role also requires flexibility to work on matchdays, including evenings and weekends.
An enhanced DBS check issued through Sunderland AFC is required.
