Role overview
AC Disaster Consulting is a national emergency management consulting firm that supports public- and private-sector clients with preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation services before, during, and after major disasters and catastrophic events. The organization’s work is grounded in a mission to deliver compassionate, timely, target-oriented, and budget-conscious support that adapts to changing threats and hazards.
This position follows the company’s corporate values and is based on-site at the assigned Emergency Operations Center for the full length of the mission.

What this role does
The Logistics Section Chief is accountable for directing logistics support for the incident, including facilities, services, and materials. This person helps develop and carry out the Incident Action Plan, activates and oversees Logistics Section branches and units, and manages the Support Branch and Mutual Aid Branch.
Key responsibilities
- Work with the State Logistics Response Center to rank support needs, identify the most heavily affected counties, and guide mission priorities.
- Partner with ESF-6 and non-government organizations to quickly deploy field kitchens and cantinas.
- Coordinate with ESF-7 DMS to secure land or buildings through leases, rental request forms, or memorandums of agreement for staging areas, forward operating bases, base camps, warehouses, or replacement facilities.
- Coordinate with ESF-11 to forecast and obtain food, water, and ice supplies.
- Support Logistics Staging Area operations in coordination with the National Guard.
- Coordinate fueling support with ESF-19 Fuels for the response effort.
- Assist with assigned project work and help ensure deliverables are completed according to contract scope and schedule.
- Join client meetings and conference calls as needed.
- Keep current with and follow relevant state and federal policies, procedures, and guidance.
- Deliver support services to assigned resources and communicate changes in logistics support.
- Track the evolving situation and judge whether the existing action plan will satisfy incident goals.
- Contribute to the Incident Action Plan or other relevant operational plan.
- Review tactical plans for each operational period.
- Advise on available service capacity and current limitations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and abilities
The role calls for strong verbal and written communication, confidentiality in handling sensitive information, the ability to juggle multiple priorities, and sound judgment in fast-moving disaster environments. Success in the position also depends on strong knowledge of state and local government structures, organized work habits, attention to detail, initiative, time management, strategic thinking, problem-solving, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to helping people.
Work schedule and travel
Work hours may change depending on mission needs. Twelve-hour workdays are expected, and evening or weekend work may be required. Reliability and punctual attendance are important. The job also requires travel to the worksite and willingness to deploy to client locations for extended periods.
Physical and environmental requirements
- Must be able to move around on-site while working with clients.
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods.
- Must be capable of working at a computer for extended stretches if needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs repeatedly during the day and as required.
- Work may take place in an office, a home-based setup, or in the field.
- Field assignments may involve outdoor work in difficult weather conditions.
- On-site work may occur in settings such as EOCs, hospitals, debris sites, or local government buildings.
Supervision
This position may include lead responsibilities for small teams or projects, with support from senior staff depending on the function.
Experience and education required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or another relevant field.
- Knowledge of the Incident Command Framework at the state or federal level.
- Experience with financial management applications.
- Experience in an Emergency Operations Center or disaster response environment, including at least two activations or exercises in a supervisory or key support role.
- Ability to make critical decisions in a high-pressure, fast-changing setting.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel.
- Required training completed before requesting the task book: IS-100, IS-200, ICS-300, ICS-400, IS-700, IS-800, E/G/L-0191, E/L-0958, and O-0305.
Preferred background
- Five or more years of professional emergency management experience.
- Master’s degree in Emergency Management or a related discipline.
- Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) credential.
- Experience using WebEOC.
- ICS position-specific certification.
Additional qualifications
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
