Role overview
The Junior Data Analyst (Entry / Junior Level) will help Sankalp make better decisions using data from its programs and outreach work. This remote, part-time position focuses on gathering, structuring, reviewing, and interpreting both numerical and non-numerical information connected to volunteer engagement, project outcomes, and outreach performance.
What you will do
- Keep datasets current and organized across volunteer activity, impact measurement, and outreach tracking.
- Clean, check, and validate information to maintain accuracy and consistency.
- Create basic reports, charts, and dashboards for internal teams.
- Look for patterns, trends, and simple relationships in the data.
- Support the creation of straightforward data models used to assess program effectiveness.
- Work with project leads and coordinators to understand data requirements.
- Document methods, assumptions, and findings in a clear and usable way.
- Turn analysis into practical recommendations that can improve programs.
Skills and qualifications
This role is best suited to someone with a strong analytical mindset, a working grasp of statistics, and the ability to communicate insights clearly. Familiarity with spreadsheets or basic data tools such as Excel or Google Sheets is important, and exposure to SQL or Python would be an advantage. Candidates should be comfortable working independently in a remote part-time setup while keeping data accurate and meeting deadlines.
Preferred background
A degree or diploma in a relevant area such as Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline is preferred. Interest in social sector work, community development, or nonprofit projects will be helpful, and prior volunteer or project experience is a plus.
