Cascades is recruiting General Labourers in Scarborough to support the start-up of a new operation running around the clock. The hiring process has been designed to move quickly, with interviews and pre-employment steps planned to be completed on the same day for selected candidates.

Compensation and schedule

• Paid at an hourly rate of $22.02.
• This is a full-time role with guaranteed hours, offering greater job security.
• The work pattern may follow a 24/5 model with rotating weekly shifts across three shifts, or a 24/7 continental pattern involving 12-hour shifts, depending on the role assigned.

Key responsibilities

As a General Labourer, you will work directly in the production area and help keep operations moving smoothly.

• Assist machine operators with equipment setup, adjustments, and clearing jams.
• Handle materials and ensure machines are kept supplied.
• Help organize the production sequence, print load tags, and prepare or close orders.
• Carry out quality inspections and spot defects or irregularities.
• Escalate equipment, production, or quality concerns to operators or supervisors.
• Follow safety rules, including lockout/tagout procedures, and keep the workspace tidy.
• Support general tasks and remain responsive to customer needs.

What you need to succeed

• A high school diploma or an equivalent credential is required.
• Comfort using English for day-to-day communication, safety, and teamwork.
• Ability to understand written and spoken instructions and work with basic measurements.
• Some mechanical awareness and basic computer knowledge; manufacturing background is an asset.
• Careful attention to detail, along with strong quality-checking and problem-solving ability.
• Good communication skills, a collaborative approach, and a people-focused mindset.
• Ability to stay organized, manage time well, handle pressure, and take initiative.

Hiring process

• Shortlisted candidates will first have a brief screening call.
• Next comes a 30-minute in-person interview at the plant.
