Email Security Administrator

Role Overview

Madre Integrated Engineering is hiring two Email Security Administrators to oversee and support the company’s on-premises email security environment. The position is centered on maintaining safe, dependable, and continuous email communication by administering defenses against spam, phishing, malware, and spoofing, while also ensuring smooth mail flow with Microsoft 365 and connected systems.

Platform Administration & Monitoring

• Carry out day-to-day administration and check the overall health of the email security gateway.
• Keep the platform available, stable, and performing reliably.
• Watch dashboards, alerts, and live security signals as they happen.

Policy Management & Optimization

• Set up, maintain, and refine email security policies.
• Administer protections for spam, phishing, malware, and spoofing attempts.
• Improve filtering performance over time by lowering both false alarms and missed detections.

Quarantine & Mail Handling

• Inspect quarantined messages and assist with controlled release procedures.
• Confirm false-positive cases and help ensure legitimate mail reaches users securely.
• Respond to employee requests about emails that were blocked or placed in quarantine.

Mail Flow & Integration Support

• Diagnose end-to-end email flow problems between the on-premises gateway and Microsoft 365.
• Manage SMTP routing, mail connector setup, and relay settings.
• Maintain proper integration across the security gateway, DNS, and email platforms.

Threat Investigation & Response

• Examine spam, phishing, malware, spoofing, and impersonation activity.
• Review logs and connect related security events for analysis.
• Assist incident response efforts alongside SOC teams.

Security Protocol & Email Authentication

• Administer and verify SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and TLS configurations.
• Ensure authentication controls are correctly applied and enforced across email traffic.

Collaboration & Escalation Management

• Work closely with infrastructure, network, SOC, and messaging teams.
• Liaise with vendors for escalations, root-cause analysis tracking, and closure follow-up.

Reporting & Audit Support

• Prepare operational and security reports covering threat patterns, blocked messages, and platform health.
• Support both internal reviews and external audit needs.
• Keep documentation current for settings, incidents, and changes.

Change & Maintenance Support

• Support upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance work.
• Carry out approved change requests according to process.
• Minimize service disruption during updates and migration activities.

Requirements

• Background in administering an email security gateway in on-premises or hybrid environments.
• Practical knowledge of mail flow design and SMTP routing.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 email systems.
• Strong understanding of SMTP, MX records, and DNS.
• Knowledge of SPF, DKIM, and DMARC authentication methods.
• Familiarity with TLS-based email encryption.
• Experience analyzing phishing, spam, and malware incidents and handling security events.
• Exposure to SOC environments and security escalation processes.
• Strong problem-solving ability for mail flow and connectivity issues.
