About the Role
Nicole Hogarty Designs is a premium residential interior design studio based in Boston’s South End, serving clients across New England and other regions. The team works in a close-knit, fast-moving, and collaborative setting where every member contributes meaningfully to the studio’s projects, many of which involve highly valued properties.
The firm places strong emphasis on client relationships, attentive listening, and practical, solution-oriented problem solving. The studio also believes that thoughtful details, including small finishing touches such as antique brass drawer pulls, can have a real effect on how clients experience and enjoy their homes.
Role Overview
This position is ideal for a proactive Design Assistant who can help keep design work organized and moving forward. The role centers on project coordination, sample handling, vendor follow-up, and documentation, while also offering hands-on exposure to the day-to-day execution of interior design projects in a boutique studio environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support designers with sourcing materials, arranging samples, and reaching out to vendors.
- Monitor purchase orders, delivery timelines, and project milestones to help keep work on schedule.
- Build and organize client-facing presentations and supporting project documents.
- Keep the materials library and project records updated and well maintained.
- Assist during on-site installations, client meetings, and photoshoots.
- Coordinate with showrooms, fabricators, and contractors to collect and track needed information.
- Provide day-to-day administrative and project assistance to the design team.
Qualifications
The preferred background includes 1 to 3 years of experience in design support or project coordination. A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Fine Arts, or a related discipline is considered an advantage. Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp, and InDesign is expected, along with familiarity with the design process, including FF&E, specifications, finishes, and material selection. Candidates should be highly organized, communicate clearly, and be comfortable balancing several priorities in a busy studio. Experience with cloud-based systems is important, and prior exposure to Design Manager would be a plus. The ideal applicant is enthusiastic, adaptable, resourceful, and eager to contribute to a collaborative team environment.
