What you’ll do
- Examine source data in detail to uncover anomalies, mismatches, and quality concerns.
- Support profiling, analysis, and transformation work across legacy and target platforms, including transfers between relational databases, NoSQL stores, and object storage.
- Create and maintain bidirectional mappings between source and target structures so that data remains traceable, complete, and aligned with business needs.
- Work with target data models, database designs, and usage patterns to help ensure transformations and validations are accurate.
- Help design and manage data lake and data warehouse solutions so data stays organized, efficient, and available for downstream use.
- Partner with Business Analysts, Technical Architects, and developers to convert business rules into mapping and transformation logic.
- Spot data quality gaps and inconsistencies, support cleansing decisions, and verify that mappings and transformation rules are followed.
- Take part in validation and reconciliation steps to confirm accuracy, completeness, and usability throughout migration and pipeline activities.
- Document schemas, data flows, mappings, and transformation logic to support traceability, auditing, and governance.
- Contribute ideas and work toward better tools, platform architecture, and migration approaches in line with organizational standards and best practices.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in data analysis, development, or a similar position supporting data integration or migration work.
- Strong knowledge of database design concepts, including relational modeling, normalization, and denormalization.
- Proven experience moving and transforming data across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured formats.
- Background in data mapping, transformation, and validation within migration or integration programs.
- Hands-on SQL experience, including work with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, or comparable relational systems.
Nice to have
- Experience with MS SQL Server, Azure Cosmos DB, or other NoSQL platforms that handle distributed or semi-structured data.
- Familiarity with Kusto Query Language (KQL) and tools such as Azure Monitor or Azure Data Explorer for analysis, logging, or performance insight.
- Exposure to object storage design using blob-based or file-based architectures.
- Understanding of advanced analytics or data science platforms such as Azure Machine Learning, Microsoft Fabric/Foundry, Databricks, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of governance practices such as lineage, cataloging, and metadata management to improve traceability and auditability.
- Experience working with data lakes and/or data warehouse platforms such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Microsoft Fabric, or equivalent technologies.
