Shift Engineer

Role Overview

JSW Steel is hiring a Shift Engineer for its Raigarh, Chhattisgarh location. The role focuses on control room operations and PCI activities, with an emphasis on process stability, safe equipment handling, and shift-wise production targets.

Key Result Areas

• Track process values regularly and maintain accurate logs.
• Keep the day bunkers fully stocked with material.
• Work to increase online sinter charging as much as possible.
• Work to increase online coke charging as much as possible.
• Oversee uninterrupted operation of the coal mill.
• Manage the coal injection tank operation effectively.
• Maintain safety standards for PCI personnel.
• Ensure sufficient coal injection to the blast furnace.
• Monitor and maintain required compressed air and nitrogen pressure levels.
• Verify the condition and functionality of PCI equipment through the control room scalar.

Critical Tasks and Key Activities

• Observe important parameters and record them consistently.
• Escalate any process variation to the shift in-charge without delay.
• Inspect the stock house to confirm the screen area remains clean.
• Support achievement of the required fineness of fine coal after grinding.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams and service personnel to keep PCI operations running smoothly.
• Ensure coal blending and coal shifting vehicles are operated safely.
• Maintain housekeeping standards within the PCI area.

Decision-Making Authority

• Make decisions in line with standard operating procedures.

Education and Experience

The preferred qualification is a Diploma with 5 to 10 years of experience, or a BE with 3 to 5 years of experience in control room operations and PCI operations.

• Ability to manage teams

Working Relationships

This role interacts with Sinter Plant, RMHS, Pellet Plant, Bar Mill, Quality Control, MIS Department, RMHS, Cast House, and Tuyere Platform teams.

Key Success Factors and Challenges

• Careful planning of preventive maintenance for equipment.
• Meeting shift targets for number of charges and PCI rate.
• Maintaining zero accidents during the shift.

Additional Information

This position is based on-site in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, India and is intended for shift-based industrial operations. All duties should be performed in alignment with internal SOPs and plant safety requirements.
