Position overview
Nestlé SA is hiring a Millwright for its Harrismith factory in Free State, South Africa. The role is focused on keeping plant and equipment running safely, reliably, and to the required quality and production standards while helping reduce engineering-related losses across the site.
The company has a long history of more than 150 years and continues to look for practical ideas and continuous improvement from its people. This opportunity is based at the Harrismith Factory and is aimed at someone who can support day-to-day maintenance and technical troubleshooting in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key duties
- Perform scheduled maintenance tasks on plant and production equipment.
- Look for practical improvements that help equipment run better and more efficiently.
- Install, maintain, repair, and service both existing and newly introduced equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, and shrink tunnels.
- Identify and resolve faults on PLC systems, mainly Allen Bradley.
- Carry out programming and troubleshooting on variable speed drives from brands such as Rockwell, Schneider, and SEW.
- Diagnose issues and configure controllers, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, and valves.
- Read and work from technical drawings with accuracy.
- Apply strong working knowledge of steam systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Help maintain high engineering standards across the factory.
Requirements
- Minimum N3 in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, together with a Millwright trade test.
- At least 3 years of experience working as a Millwright.
- Comfortable working on your own and under pressure.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Good understanding of maintenance practices.
- Ability to coach and support production operators.
- Working knowledge of TPM.
