Estimator

Role Overview

This position focuses on preparing highly realistic, accurate, and competitive cost estimates for quotations and tenders. The estimator is expected to respond to incoming enquiries promptly and use the company’s internal estimating platform to build submissions that are commercially strong and aligned with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive contract enquiries, assess each one, and create a clear pricing plan so the quotation can be completed within the required deadline.
• Track each enquiry through to completion, clarifying scope with the client when needed to improve the accuracy of the offer.
• Work with the line manager and wider team to shape the overall tender approach.
• Issue enquiries to suppliers and the supply chain to secure the most competitive pricing and choose the most appropriate supplier or manufacturing location for the project.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to obtain programmes, quality submissions, and other support materials required for the enquiry or RFQ.
• Review supplier quotations and negotiate pricing using knowledge of raw material rates and manufacturing costs across different markets, while checking supplier terms against standard tender practices.
• Compile tender analysis details and present them clearly for internal review and client-facing submissions.
• Build up costs with enough detail to support contract review and commercial evaluation.
• Evaluate mark-ups for presentation during tender vetting meetings.
• Ensure the tender summary documentation is properly approved in line with company procedure.
• Track tenders and quotations, and attend client meetings whenever required.
• Study enquiry documents in detail, including contract conditions, specifications, drawings, and bills of materials, to identify risks, discrepancies, and value opportunities, then document the findings appropriately.
• Participate in handover meetings between the estimating, operational, and commercial teams, and provide the necessary information to help move the project into delivery.

Required Profile

• At least 5 years of estimating experience in the fit-out industry, preferably with exposure to the Qatar market.
• Qualification in B.Tech, B.E., or Diploma.
• Strong understanding of the full tender lifecycle, including value engineering.
• Experience comparing and analyzing trade packages or trade quotations.
• Comfortable using standard office software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Good time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in professional business English, both internally and externally.

Additional Information

This role is based in Qatar and is a full-time, on-site position. The position requires attendance to receive and act on enquiries in a timely manner, and the work is centered on competitive tender preparation and commercial analysis.
