Equipment Engineer

Role overview

This position is for an Equipment Engineer based in Mayang, Assam, with Tata Electronics. The role centers on improving equipment performance, extending asset life, and supporting manufacturing operations through planned maintenance, automation improvements, compliance, and project execution.

Key responsibilities

• Create and execute strategies for equipment maintenance, modernization, and lifecycle management.
• Plan for equipment procurement, upgrades, and end-of-life disposal in line with business needs.
• Look for ways to improve automation, productivity, and overall process efficiency.
• Work closely with production and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
• Ensure all equipment activities meet safety standards and regulatory obligations.
• Maintain accurate records and technical documentation needed for audits and certifications.
• Build and control equipment budgets while identifying opportunities to reduce costs without affecting quality.
• Lead equipment installation and commissioning initiatives, coordinating with vendors and contractors to keep projects on schedule.

Experience and background

The role calls for at least 10 years of experience in equipment engineering. Applicants should have a strong understanding of manufacturing operations, automation systems, preventive maintenance, and equipment reliability. Hands-on capability with CAD tools and PLC programming is also needed, along with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred industry exposure

Experience in semiconductor, automotive, or electronics manufacturing is preferred. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM methods is also valued, especially for candidates who have handled cross-functional work and global teams.

Education
