Technology Service Controller

About the role

This position acts as the main technical lead for passenger screening technologies, ensuring dependable operations, strong security, and compliance with aviation regulations across HIA and DIA. The role connects operational teams, vendors, and project stakeholders to shape screening solutions that are robust, modern, and built for long-term performance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the upkeep of the passenger screening equipment and related applications used across HIA and DIA.
• Partner with business teams to understand day-to-day operational needs and convert them into clear technical requirements.
• Serve as the technical lead on passenger screening initiatives, coordinating effectively between suppliers and the project management team.
• Research new trends and technologies in the passenger screening space and prepare recommendations for adoption at MATAR to improve outcomes, enhance the passenger journey, and protect company information and IT systems.
• Identify risks associated with passenger screening systems and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
• Make sure the necessary controls for passenger screening systems are in place, deployed, and managed within a secure environment.
• Support architectural governance for passenger screening systems across assigned business units, ensuring alignment with agreed standards and requirements from internal and external customers and suppliers.
• Assess both functional and non-functional requirements and provide recommendations based on established frameworks.
• Independently review the impact of major solution design choices for passenger screening system rollouts and upgrades.
• Design solutions that are scalable, resilient, and sustainable while meeting business needs.
• Track new regulatory requirements, including ECAC, TSA, QCAA, and similar authorities, and ensure equipment and solutions remain compliant.

About you

You should bring deep hands-on knowledge of passenger screening systems such as X-ray machines, CT machines, body scanners, explosive trace detectors, and bottle liquid scanners. The role requires experience working with multiple equipment manufacturers, evaluating newer technologies, and supporting both implementation and ongoing maintenance in a medium to large airport or aviation setting. Familiarity with aviation certifications and compliance requirements is also important.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in passenger screening systems, including X-ray, CT, body scanners, explosive trace detectors, and bottle liquid scanners.
• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience collaborating directly with multiple screening equipment manufacturers and assessing emerging technologies.
• Background in implementing and maintaining passenger screening systems in a medium to large airport or aviation environment.
• Working knowledge of aviation regulatory compliance and certification requirements.
