Smart Utility Metering Operator

About the role

MACH CONSULTANTS is hiring a Smart Utility Metering Operator in Doha, Qatar to support the smooth operation of smart metering services. This position is suited to someone with practical experience in HES, MDM, and smart metering environments who can handle technical issues, work closely with multiple teams, and help maintain dependable utility operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day smart utility metering operations, including the Head End System (HES), Meter Data Management (MDM), and related communication networks.
• Keep the connection between smart meters and the central platform running effectively.
• Investigate and fix issues related to connectivity, data transfer, and system performance.
• Review operational information and prepare performance-related reports.
• Work with IT, telecom, metering, and field teams to support stable system performance.
• Assist with system enhancements, configuration changes, and operational refinements.
• Keep accurate incident logs, system records, and operational documents.
• Follow cybersecurity, ISO, ISMS, BCMS, and HSE standards and procedures.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.
• Between 4 and 8 years of experience in smart utility metering operations, HES/MDM platforms, or comparable environments.
• Good knowledge of smart metering systems and communication protocols.
• Proven ability to monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and produce operational reports.
• Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and a collaborative work style.
• Professional fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic will be considered an advantage.

This is a contract position based onsite in Doha, Qatar. The role focuses on technical operations, reliability, and coordination across internal teams to ensure uninterrupted utility metering services.
