Role Overview

This position is for a Lead Database Engineer focused on SQL Server and T-SQL in Pune. The role calls for someone who can guide engineering practices, protect the technical quality of the product, and work closely with developers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable database solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Set a strong example for engineering discipline, standards, and day-to-day working habits.
• Take ownership of product quality and overall technical health.
• Collaborate with senior developers and architects to design new products and improve existing ones.
• Make sure development follows internal policies, procedures, and technical/process standards.
• Break down implementation work into clear, manageable pieces that the team can take forward.
• Coach engineers through mentoring, practical feedback, and hands-on support.
• Offer technical guidance and problem-solving support to other parts of the business.
• Work with stakeholders and internal teams to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
• Operate within the technical limits defined in the architecture specifications.

Skills & Experience

• Hands-on experience with SQL Server in an enterprise environment, covering versions from 2008R2 through the latest releases.
• Solid understanding of SQL Server fundamentals across its different versions.
• Strong command of SQL and T-SQL.
• Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing approaches.
• Working knowledge of PowerShell and automation.
• Exposure to cloud-based technologies.
• Ability to own tasks and issues through the full project lifecycle.
• Curiosity to learn, along with a methodical approach to troubleshooting and researching fixes.

Compensation

The role offers an annual salary in the range of INR 20,00,000 to INR 30,00,000.
