About the team
Join a group focused on strengthening a dependable, always-on logistics platform that supports DoorDash’s three-sided marketplace of consumers, merchants, and dashers. The team builds the systems that keep the global delivery engine running around the clock.
About the role
The Data User Platform and Programs team sits at the crossroads of data infrastructure, reliability, governance, developer productivity, and AI systems. It supports a large internal audience made up of engineers, analysts, data scientists, and business teams.
This is a founding engineering team in India, giving you significant ownership, room to grow, and a direct role in shaping the long-term architecture of the platform.
You will contribute to systems that include platform layers for reliability, observability, cost control, and compliance, a unified data discovery and catalog experience, and AI-driven assistants and workflows for analytics and operations.
You will work closely with product managers, data engineers, and analytics partners to build solutions that reduce operational friction and increase trust across the data ecosystem.
What you will do
- Strengthen the scalability, speed, and reliability of data platform services through sound engineering practices.
- Design and run data discovery and metadata tools that help users locate the correct datasets, dashboards, and metrics with confidence.
- Create AI-enabled services and workflows, including self-serve tooling for building, evaluating, and improving AI assistants.
- Add monitoring, observability, and operational tooling to support service-level agreements and shorten incident response time.
- Contribute to cost-conscious data platform architecture by spotting unused, duplicate, or idle datasets, services, and compute resources.
- Build cost awareness into the data lifecycle by designing for reuse, capturing usage and cost signals, and supporting safe retirement of outdated assets.
- Partner with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, product-oriented environment.
What we are looking for
- A B.E., B.Tech., M.E., M.Tech., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 3 years of experience with computer science fundamentals and hands-on work in one or more of Go, Java, and Python.
- Comfort using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor across the full software development lifecycle, including design, code generation, testing, monitoring, and release.
- Prior experience in big data infrastructure, governance, or cost efficiency, with meaningful contributions to data infrastructure; experience with open-source systems such as Spark, ClickHouse, Iceberg, and Airflow is a plus.
- Background in improving the efficiency, scalability, and stability of data platforms.
- Experience building or running backend systems in production environments.
