About the organisation
IAG Defence & National Security (DNS) is a specialist advisory practice within IAG, focused on supporting complex infrastructure, Defence and national security programs across Australia. The team partners with Commonwealth agencies and industry to provide niche expertise to programs of national importance. About the role
This opportunity is for an experienced Program Manager to help shape and manage a complex Defence capability program. The role is based in Canberra, ACT, and requires an NV1 security clearance.
You will work in a multidisciplinary setting, driving the planning, integration, governance and performance oversight of the program. The position involves creating and maintaining planning and reporting materials, aligning scope, schedule, cost, risks and benefits, and enabling informed executive decisions. You will also coordinate stakeholder inputs, analyse program performance and support delivery in a fast-moving Defence environment.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will contribute across program, project, engineering and logistics workstreams, supporting integrated teams to achieve critical capability outcomes. The role includes governance support, assurance activities, executive reporting and strategic planning.
What you will do
- Build and maintain program governance, planning and performance management structures.
- Develop integrated program plans, reporting tools and related management artefacts.
- Coordinate scope, schedule, cost, risk and benefits activities so they remain aligned.
- Prepare executive-level reports, briefs and other strategic documentation.
- Support governance forums, assurance reviews and decision-making processes.
- Analyse program performance, risks and issues, and assist with resolution actions.
- Bring together inputs from a wide range of stakeholders and keep them aligned.
- Provide trusted advice and help manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
About you
You are an accomplished Program Manager with a track record of leading complex programs in Defence, government or other highly regulated settings. You bring strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement capability, along with the analytical skills needed to support structured program delivery.
Experience and capability
- Hands-on experience in program planning, governance and performance management.
- Ability to create and maintain program management frameworks, plans and reporting documents.
- Practical understanding of integrated management across scope, schedule, cost, risk and benefits.
- Experience supporting executive reporting, governance and decision processes.
- Capability in performance analysis, risk review and issue management.
- Proven skill in coordinating diverse stakeholder groups and keeping workstreams aligned.
- Experience supporting assurance activities, reviews and reporting obligations.
- Strong drafting skills for briefs, reports and strategic papers.
Highly regarded experience
Experience in Defence capability delivery, acquisition, sustainment or large-scale transformation programs will be viewed favourably.
